The following help relating to the Training, Missions and Time Attack is how we at Team17 play the game. We understand that there are many different ways of playing worms and completing the missions, that's one of the things that makes Worms such an unpredictable and fun game. Very occasionally a stray sheep or a misplaced enemy banana bomb may effect these tactics, but believe us, they work 99.9% of the time.

General Tips
The key to success is developing a strategy and implementing it - don't just set off and hope everything will turn out okay because if you do, you'll have problems. A plan usually takes the form of a broad idea at the start of the battle but more often it governs the specific move available immediately.

When your turn starts, spend five seconds (if the turn time allows) evaluating the situation. Target a worm (or group of them) and calculate the best place to be to cause maximum damage to the enemy. Make sure that you can be in a safe place when you've finished your move. Make your way there quickly and allow time to line up your shot and fire. Then, using the few seconds of retreat time get your worm to that safe place you spied earlier.

Try and keep the following tips in mind :
  • Remember the Hot Keys for all weapons and fuse times (if you have a keyboard) it's a lot quicker than using the Weapon Panel.
  • Set off landmines close to enemy worms. This will get you a 'free' shot as it will take some damage off them.
  • Sheep, Skunks, Sally Army, Moles and Old Women can all collect crates.
  • Weapon, Utility and Health Crates can explode much like Oil Drums, but can't be set off by fire like Oil Drums.
  • It's quicker to drown a worm than to kill it by conventional means; Worms can also be knocked off the side of the screen in cavern levels.
  • Girders can be used to block your opponent in.
  • In hard fought network games, keep an eye on the weapons that your opponent has used so you can have a rough idea of which weapons they have left in his inventory to use against you.
  • Try and make sure you know the overall remaining round time, as this way you can always prepare for sudden death.
  • Try combining the various utilities with various weapons. For example, the Low Gravity utility helps propel worms further when used with such weapons as the firepunch and the baseball bat. The double damage utility is particularly devastating when combined with spread fire weapons, such as the cluster bomb or mortar.

Deathmatch
The easiest way to beat the computer in Deathmatch is to learn the computer's weaknesses. If you don't hide, you are going to get blasted sooner or later. The best method of defeating the computer in deathmatch is to use darkside tactics (don't hang around in the open). Don't stay hidden all the time, venture out to take your shots but don't leave yourself as an open target. Save your homing weapons till the end of the game which your can use to pummel the computers last worm.
